Stash Enhancement-March

This past weekend, AmyG and I went on a mini yarn crawl of the Main Line.

First we started at the Tangled Web… since it’s in my ‘hood and she had never been, I thought it was too close to pass up. I didn’t buy anything this time, but I did buy a bunch of stuff the last time I was there with Heather and I never posted about it, so I’ll share.

Clapotis_yarn First up is yarn for Clapotis. It’s Artyarns SuperMerino. Really really luscious and soft.

The photo does not do the colors justice at all. The purple is less purple and more of a merlot color. And there is some brown in there, not red.

I am really excited to start this. Just trying to clear my plate of smaller projects, first.

Roving_1 Next is the Fibertrends Needle Felting Kit and 2 packs of roving, one natural and one in  different colors.

I saw the Knitty Gritty episode on needle felting and decided immediately that I needed to do that. I can’t believe how easy it looks! I have a plain Sophie bag just waiting to be needle felted!

I also have 2 FiberTrends patterns that call for needle felting on the completed bags. One is that red bag with the purple flower and the other is of a little sheep on a blue felted tote!  I think the possibilites are endless!

Stash_march Some sock yarn. I think the Silja might become another pair of hand warmers for me. It was such a bargain I couldn’t pass it up.

I’m excited to work up the Sockotta into socks for me. I am anxious to try the socks on 2 circs

The 2 Dalegarn colors I seem to just be collecting until something strikes my fancy.  I’m thinking maybe something fun for my nephew, but I will need a few more balls of it and probably a few more colors as well.

After AmyG picked out her purchases, we were off to Busy Body’s in Haverford.

It was a bit of a challenge to find, but once we arrived we were both pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the little shop was as well as how friendly all the employees were.

I spotted the sale bin and picked out 2 balls of this lime green yarn for a skinny scarf.

They also had a great selection of Noro yarns and tucked way up in the corner of one of the shelves I spotted some of the Recycled Silk Sari yarn. I think I’m going to definitely make a trip back for at least 1 or 2 hanks of that. I’ve been dying to knit it since I saw the knitted bag Danielle made with it.

After Busy Body’s, we headed over to the Technicolor Sheep. I didn’t buy anything, but was just happy to see what new things were in stock. I browsed the patterns and checked out yarns that I’m not so familiar yet, all the while the creative juices flowing.

It was a great day of yarn crawling and since we had run out of time, we had to save Frou Frou for another time.

    all very pretty 🙂
i think i have the same color sockotta. christy told me it makes comfortable socks that are good to wear when 100% wool socks are too warm.

Stella, You have to go to FrouFrou. That is my number one LYS. They do carry a lot of FrouFrou yarn, not as much classic stuff as I would like, but the owner, Barbara, and her staff are very friendly. I go frequently on Saturdays. When you do go let me know and I can try and meet up with you!

Stella, I’ll second Hope’s comment on Frou Frou. It’s a fun store with a great community feeling, something I’ve never felt at Busy Body’s. If you get a chance to come back out to these burbs I’ll also be glad to meet you there. You may also want to make a stop at the Ewe and I, or Noble Knits (though Frazer is pretty far out there!).

I love all your yarn purchases. Does the Tangled Web sell the needle felting kits? I have wanted to try that for a while, but never looked into getting a kit. I’ll have to get over there, if they do. Have fun with it!

I’ve been having a blast doing two socks on two circs. Hope you do too.
