Ponch-o-riffic!

I finished my poncho last night whilst watching the Bucs vs. Colts Monday Night Football game. Man, what a game. It was hard to do the fringe when I had to keep looking up at the tv to see who just scored a touchdown! Final score 38 Colts 35 Tampa Bay. What a heartbreak. At least I have a fring-y new poncho to show for it!

Poncho Villa!

I used Bernat Boucle and Patons Divine Mohair stranded together. The pattern is the Winter Poncho from Yarn Girl’s Guide to Simple Knits. It knit up really fast, less than a week! The only problem is that I think I cast off too tightly because if I had sewn the neck up completely, it would have been too tight to put over my head. So I left a bit of one side seam open and I think I’ll use a pretty satin ribbon to lace up the side that I can undo when I put it on and take it off.

Tonight I’ll be working on putting finishing touches on things I’ve set down and not looked at in months. The neck striping and snaps for Bim’s HWBS, a button and snap for Melissa’s purse, a button and snap for my sister’s purse, duplicate stitch star and moon for the J&M HWBS.

I leave on Friday for Greece. The excitement is happening. I’ve already told the family that I am staying with that I’d like to go to a yarn shop while I’m there. They said no problem. Sadly, my English -> Greek language book doesn’t have the word for ‘yarn’ listed. Somehow I think the language of knitting is universal. πŸ™‚

Awesome fringe-y-ness, Batman! Love it. That color is great. I’m having the same problem with the neck on my poncho that you had. I think it’s fine to modify the neck a bit. Ribbon will be very nice. It adds a nice personal design element to the basic poncho.
Have a great trip to Greece!

Nice poncho! I like the color a lot. Regarding Greek–did you check for ‘wool’ in your dictionary?

Thanks to all for the kind comments. I’ve replied to each of you via email in case anyone thinks I’m being rude and ignoring my comments. πŸ˜› I didn’t think that they wouldn’t show up here… duh!
I’ll be sure to post a link to my journal when I return from Greece so you can read all about my trip. Cross your fingers that I can get to a yarn shop!

Great poncho!! Every time I see another one finished, I want to make one, too. Is yours black or dark blue? I dig it!
Have a GREAT time in Greece — just don’t shout “Thank you Turkey!” when it’s time to come back. πŸ™‚

Your poncho is COOL! Are you taking it with you? How long will you be gone? Enjoy the trip and I hope you find some nice, Greek Gods!
