I’m back home after surgery and spending a week with friends who took time out of their busy schedules to nurse me back to health.
I had no idea just how much pain I would be in after surgery! For 5 days after, I was taking percocet every 3 hours to kill the pain in my leg.
The surgery took 3 hours (2 hours longer than expected). The nerve was encased by bone and disc matter and they actually had to move the nerve to a more open space to keep it from being touched and triggering down my leg. Because of that I am experiencing some numbness in one of my toes and my calf as well as some pain at the incision site.
I have weaned myself off of the hard pain meds and am taking Motrin. I’m sleeping more than 5 hours per night and taking it easy by drinking tea, catching up on my TiVo and finishing up some knitting and scrapbooking projects. I’m not allowed to do any heavy lifting, bending or twisting so I am just taking it easy and letting people pamper me for the next few weeks.
Thanks to everyone for your well-wishes! I’ll be back to my usual self in a few weeks!
