Buttercup Fairy Cakes: Mini Cupcakes

So the day I found out I got the job in Phoenix, JenS and I had already scheduled a cupcake tasting. We were up to our elbows in cake batter, but it was sort of a moot point to have the tasting since we're not quite ready to franchise Buttercup Fairy Cakes. But we had invited over 30 people all expecting to sample cupcakes, so we decided to keep baking.

We made enough cupcakes so that everyone could have at least 1 of each flavor with tons left over for extra tastings.

This is what the sampler included, clockwise from the top:

– Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
– The Classic: Vanilla with Chocolate Frosting
– Devil's Food Cake with White Buttercream Frosting
– Angel Food Cake with Raspberry Jam filling and Powdered Sugar
– Coconut Cake with Coconut Frosting and Shredded Coconut

The Angel Food Cake was the surprise hit of the day! There were no leftovers of that flavor which is funny because I sort of just dreamed that one up not thinking it would be anything special.

And just because I'm moving to the other side of the country doesn't mean I'm going to stop baking!

From Philly to Phoenix

I've promised you an update, and after 2 days of wrestling with TypePad (apparently you have to delete cookies randomly? Whatevs), I have an update!

Some of you know that I was interviewing for,
a company that provides training and events to the automotive industry
including MINI, VW, smart, Porche, BMW, Honda, Acura, etc.

Back in May, my resume was emailed to the VP/co-founder of
automatik by the Training Director at MINIusa. She thought I would be a
good fit with them, as she worked for automatik before being recruited
by MINI.

In June, I did a preliminary interview via email consisting of 2
written essay questions. They liked my writing style and thought my
resume was fantastic, so I moved to the next round, an in-person
interview at the Philadelphia airport, while the VP was in town, at the
end of July.

He liked me enough to offer me the chance to head out to Phoenix,
AZ to meet the other employees and the founder of the company. I flew out for the day and spent 8 hours in interviews and
testing. Last week, they sent me out to Columbus, Ohio to meet with one
last employee.

On Friday, the VP of automatik offered me a job as Creative
Director. I'm still waiting on all the details but the position is
incredible with great pay, great benefits and an amazing opportunity to
learn and create fun every day. The person who last held this job was
recruited by MINI International and now lives and works in Germany!

So, I will be relocating to Phoenix sometime in October (exact date to be determined).

is hard not to be excited for this new chapter in my life, but it is
also very bittersweet. I love Philly as if it was my hometown. And
after 11 years here, I've made some amazing friends that I will miss
terribly. They have touched my life and
made me a better person for knowing them.  I'm looking forward to having new adventures but until I make my way out there, I'm enjoying spending time with my good Philly friends.
