My day job requires me to research specific brands. During one of my internet browsings, I discovered Subaru’s newest ad campaign called “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.”
I thought I would share three of the commercials that I found really funny.
There are loads more on the Subaru YouTube page. I’m guessing we might see one or two during the big game this weekend.
I’m catching up on the Oscar Best Picture movies this weekend. So far I’ve only seen American Hustle and Her, both of which I enjoyed.
On deck for this weekend is Dallas Byers Club and Gravity. I’ve heard that Gravity is best seen in the theater, so I’m going to the local movie theater to check it out on the big screen.
Here’s the complete list of 2014 Oscar Best Picture nominees if you want to catch up before the show on March 2nd.
- American Hustle
- Captain Phillips
- Dallas Buyers Club
- 12 Years a Slave
- The Wolf of Wall Street
Another Phoenix restaurant on the list was LoLo’s Chicken & Waffles, a traditional Soul Food joint downtown. I was super excited since I had tried my hand at a modified Chicken & Waffles recipe with some tasty success.
We arrived before the Saturday lunch crowd and were seated immediately. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered Sweet Tea as our drinks… wait, I mean DRANKS and I was excited to discover they sell Kool Aid on tap. That’s right – ON TAP! But I’m a sucker for Sweet Tea, so that’s what I got.
I love how the dranks are served in mason jars! The Sweet Tea was perfect, by the way.
Surprisingly the menu was pretty extensive. Since we wanted to stay sort of traditional, we ordered one waffle and one piece of fried chicken and then split a side of Mac & Cheese. Everything was so amazing. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. The mac & cheese was creamy and cheesy. The waffle was thin and not too heavy. The mix of salty/sweet was excellent.
Of course we couldn’t leave without trying the banana pudding for dessert. Made with vanilla wafers, pudding, sliced bananas and whipped cream, this dessert took me back to my childhood when my Nana would make Banana Cream Pie for dessert.
If you’re in the Phoenix area, stop by Lolo’s. You won’t be disappointed.
Before I moved from Phoenix to the NYC area, I made a list of all the places I wanted to visit. There were a ton of restaurants on my list and I’m sad to say I barely scratched the surface. La Grande Orange was a definite “must visit” and it didn’t disappoint.
Part gift shop, part cafe, part grocery they offer ice cream & gelato, pastries, sandwiches & salads, as well as pizza. There is also a robust grocery section with imported meats, cheeses and a huge wine selection. I ordered a smoothie and an “old-fashioned” which was their version of a Hostess cupcake.
I definitely enjoyed my time at LGO and would love to go back to try a few other menu items.
